#102 – Intrinsic Motivation
Many people think of motivation as a “Rah Rah!” speech, but this doesn’t create sustainable action within a person. You must have an intrinsic why? – an understanding of what you really want and who you truly are. You have a match inside of you that has a flame, and having a why? is fuel for the flame. The “Raw! Raw!” speech will give you a small flame, but you must have an inferno – a why? – if you want the flame within you to last. That is what Thomas Edison had, and it allowed him to withstand ten thousand failures. You don’t need a “Rah! Rah!” speech. You are your own trigger, and can ignite the flame internally.
