#121 – How to Manage People
When you get into an argument, you’re trying to press your values upon them. One conversation is not going to eradicate all of that person’s life experiences and value system. When you’re with someone, you need to understand their values and use that as leverage to fulfill their need. You don’t get what you ask for, you get what you negotiate for. You have to give a part of you to receive. The way to win a debate is to listen to them and understand where they are coming from. Make them feel important in that decision, and then make them see sort of a middle ground between their view and your view.
